Completing the FPA’s AEPS® Accredited Estate Planning Strategist Program will not only advance your knowledge in this essential discipline, it will identify you as a specialist professional to your clients, peers and licensee.  This will give you a professional edge in a competitive marketplace and can act as a stepping stone towards CFP® Certification.

Estate Planning is fast becoming one of the most important and exciting facets of financial planning.  An understanding of this specialised discipline is essential to providing comprehensive planning advice to your clients.  There has never been a better time to consolidate your skills and gain a professional designation.

The AEPS program is delivered by a series of workshops over a 6 day period (non-consecutive) and has 2 assignments and an exam.  In line with our other designations, you will need to meet the ‘4Es – Ethics, Education, Examination and Experience before receiving your designation

Entry requirements for AEPS® Accredited Estate Planning Strategist Program

If you’re currently an AFP® or CFP® practitioner and have enrolled in, or completed, an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services (ADFS) or equivalent, then you already meet the entry requirements.

Structure of the AEPS® Program

There are 2 education units:

1. FPA Professionalism Unit (CFP1) and
2. AEPS Unit 2 Estate Planning Unit

Obtaining your Designation

  • Ethics: Member of FPA and committed to FPA Code of Professional Practice and completed the FPA Professionalism Unit.
  • Education: The technical education requirement and the examination requirement are met through a specialist unit with 10 topics covering the full depth of estate planning advice.
  • Experience: Authorised Representative Status for 12 months with 3 years full time or the equivalent part time client facing advice experience in this area.
