First time attendees

The FPA National Conference is a three day conference which provides leading educational and professional development opportunities for financial planners and those that support the financial planning profession.  The three days are made up of:

Wednesday 24 November: Pre-Conference CPD Pro Series workshops, the
pre-conference golf day and the  Welcome Networking Reception
Thursday 25 November: First of the main Conference days, with sessions and the
Trade Expo.  The Gala Event is also on the Thursday evening.
Friday 26 November:   The second, and last, of the main Conference days, with sessions and the Trade Expo.

What to expect

At the FPA 2010 National Conference you can expect to see:
  • a variety of presentations from different presenters on technical topics, as well as topics related to broader professional development
  • intensive Master Class sessions within the program streams
  • industry and business services exhibitors
  • unparalleled networking opportunities for you to interact with other practitioners and industry leaders
  • an opportunity to provide your feedback to the FPA

Registration

A standard two-day registration (Thursday and Friday) for the Conference includes:
  • access to the conference sessions on Thursday and Friday
  • access to the Trade Expo
  • morning and afternoon tea and lunch, served in the Trade Expo
  • the gala event
Please note that we don’t sell registration passes for access to the Trade Expo only.

Accommodation

The FPA has reserved rooms at hotels and apartments during the conference. For more information please visit the Accommodation menu of the website.

Session nomination

The conference program will feature a number of intensive Master Class sessions within the program streams (see the program for details on each Master Class). These sessions offer delegates an intensive session on a particular subject, and attendance is included in your conference registration. Due to the room size limitations, attendance is limited and if you wish to attend these Master Classes, you must pre-register your interest.

Delegates are not required to nominate which other breakout sessions they’d like to attend in advance. Delegates can attend their preferred session unless the room is closed as a result of maximum capacity being reached.

CPD points

Your name tag will contain a barcode which will be scanned by staff upon entry and exit of each session to determine how many Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points each individual delegate has obtained. We ask that you respect the staff scanning the barcodes and understand that even if you don’t require CPD points that your barcode must be scanned.

CPD points for each session will be advised on the website in September once sessions have been assessed. CPD points for some plenary and open forum sessions will be assessed onsite and therefore CPD points will not be released until after the conference.

CPD point accreditation will be awarded to delegates by email four weeks from the close of the conference.

Catering

All catering will be served in the Trade Expo at meal times indicated on the conference program, unless otherwise stated

Dress code

The dress code for the conference and Wednesday networking reception is business casual. The dress code for the gala event is after five / cocktail.
