Nominations open for 2010 Honorary Awards

20 July 2010

The Financial Planning Association (FPA) is calling for nominations for the Distinguished Service Awards and the third round of Fellow Awards for 2010.

The Distinguished Service Awards recognise individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the work of the FPA and to the common good of the profession, through voluntary service to Chapters, committees and taskforces.

All FPA members are eligible to nominate another member for consideration for this award. FPA members who have at least 10 years service as an FPA practitioner are eligible to self-nominate for the Fellow Awards, which recognise outstanding professional practice, selfless contribution to the profession and the community, and exemplary leadership as a practitioner.

FPA CEO, Mark Rantall said the awards were an important opportunity to recognise FPA members who make outstanding contributions to the FPA, the profession and the community.

“It is important that we acknowledge those members who give more than what is required” Mr Rantall said.

“With all the stresses our members have experienced through the last few tough years, it is extremely heartening to see so many dedicated members volunteering to work outside of their practice with the sole aim of bettering our profession.”

Nominations for the awards opened on Monday July 19, and close Friday August 13.

Previous recipients of the Fellow Awards include:

  • Bruce Christie CFP® – Centric Wealth Advisers Ltd
  • Geoff Fry CFP® – Geoff Fry & Associates Pty Ltd
  • Philip Eley CFP® – Plan 4 Financial Services Pty Ltd
  • Sam Calarco CFP® – Financial Security Services Pty Ltd

Awarded applicants will be notified in September, and the presentation ceremony will be held at the Colonial First State Good Advice Gala Dinner during the FPA 2010 National Conference.

This year’s National Conference will be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, November 24-26. Any previously unsuccessful applicants are welcomed to apply, as the FPA is now calling for more detailed applications.

Entry forms are available on the FPA Website.
