From time to time the FPA commissions research amongst consumers to track trends and developments in the financial planning sector.

FPA research results:
 
FPA Financial Planning in a Volatile Economic Environment Report 2008
This research was conducted by Galaxy Research on behalf of the FPA in the first quarter of 2008. The national poll canvassed over 1,100 respondents aged 16 or over. The findings demonstrate how the current economic factors are making Australians feel vulnerable about their financial stability.
FPA Value of Advice Research 2008 
The FPA commissioned Rice Warner Actuaries to develop the evidence-based quantification of the Value of Advice using 12 case studies provided by the FPA 2006 and 2007 Value of Advice Award winners.
FPA Research on Consumer Attitudes to Financial Planning  
The FPA Consumer Attitudes to Financial Planning study, released for Financial Planning Week (21-27 May), gives interesting findings on consumer thoughts towards financial planning, one being, that nine out of ten Australians that have used a financial planner have benefited from the experience.
Consumer sentiment  
Research by RMIT University, conducted via telephone interviews with Australian consumers. In 2002 and 2003, the sample was 400 people who had taken financial planning advice. In 2004, the sample was increased to 400 people who had taken advice and 400 who had not. Reports are available for 2002, 2003 and 2004.
